MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION TRAINING

DIABETES COURSE

Providers administering medications to children with diabetes who require insulin and/or glucagon, and children with diabetes, must  take this Diabetes course to be able to care for these children.  Class also includes Solu Cortef injections training.

Administering these medications without this training is a violation of the Virginia Drug Control Act (§ 54.1-3400 et seq).


Part 1: Online Session (Viewing video at home/school)

  • Video takes about 4 hours to watch.
     


    Classroom Session:

  • 4 hour class.
  • Must bring MAT Diabetes Handout which can be downloaded from the MAT website.
  • Must bring a bag lunch.
  • Bring current CPR and First Aids cards.
  • Must be currently Mat trained or expired no more than 90 days and bring certificate for proof.

    Participants must pass a written and practical test

    Prerequisites:
    1. At least 18 years of age
    2. Able to read and write in English
    3. Proof of current certification in CPR and First Aid
    4. Proof of current MAT Certificate

    Rate: $185

    On-site/Travel Fees: Extra and varies based on location


    Certificate valid for 3 years

    Maximum class size: 4 participants
