MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION TRAINING

DIABETES COURSE

Providers administering medications to children with diabetes who require insulin and/or glucagon, and children with diabetes, must  take this Diabetes course to be able to care for these children. Course includes Solu Cortef injections training.

Administering these medications without this training is a violation of the Virginia Drug Control Act (§ 54.1-3400 et seq).


Part 1: Online Session (Viewing video at home/school)

  • Video takes about 4 hours to watch.
     


    Classroom Session:

  • 4 hour class.
  • Must bring MAT Diabetes Handout which can be downloaded from the MAT website.
  • Must bring a bag lunch.
  • Bring current CPR and First Aids cards.
  • Must be currently Mat trained or expired no more than 90 days and bring certificate for proof.

    Participants must pass a written and practical test

    Prerequisites:
    1. At least 18 years of age
    2. Able to read and write in English
    3. Proof of current certification in CPR and First Aid
    4. Proof of current MAT Certificate

    Rate: $180


    Certificate valid for 3 years

    Maximum class size: 4 participants
Northern Virginia Medication Administration Trainers provides training to Preschool, Center based, and Home Day Care Providers in Northern Virginia: Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Arlington, Alexandria counties.
